This car came from the Bullock property in Northern California. It was one of 150+ Imperials that were on the property at one time. You can read the story about that here.
I sold the removed parts from over 100 Imperials on the internet in the early and mid-2000’s, and split the proceeds 50/50 with the owners, who had aged and were no longer in the hobby, but were happy to see the parts go to new owners. This car was stored in the stables along with the massive amount of parts there.
While I owned it, the body and interior were left alone, while the engine, transmission, brakes, and mechanicals were all refreshed.
While I owned the car 2007-2016, I drove it in several vintage car road rallies, where it did surprisingly well on California back roads. I made certain to be careful with the brakes and managing heat, but past that the car was comfortable and easy to live with. The small displacement cars on these events usually got dropped by lunch time, and it was a real pleasure to be the only full-size US car in most of these euro-trash fields of cars.
This car was sold to new owners and was last spotted in the Palm Springs area.
